The Dobrý směr food atlas

Where a journey
finds its flavour.

Not a database of restaurants, but the tables, breakfasts, drinks and grand evenings that belong to the places we love. Organised by region, with our own experiences alongside editorial recommendations.

01 · Lago di Garda

One great memory. Several tables for today.

Garda tastes different on every shore. Sport and wind in the north, long aperitivo in the south and lake fish in the west. Lido 84 remains one of our most memorable dinners, but its final service took place on 22 March 2026 — we keep it here as a memory, not a booking recommendation.

02 · The Beskydy

Čeladná is not a food stop. It is the plan.

The Beskydy can do a simple poussin at a shared table and a dinner in which every course resembles a little landscape. Cattaleya is our choice for an occasion, Petr’s table at Mezi Plůtky for closeness and stories, and Kovárna for an unhurried morning.

03 · South Tyrol

Grand-hotel breakfast, a mountain stube and a drink beneath the palms.

South Tyrol proves that one cuisine can speak both Italian and German. Luna in Bolzano means breakfast and Pornstar Martini to us, Sissi means a playful grand evening, and Leiter am Waal means timber, white linen and a valley view.

04 · Tuscany

From Fabio’s bread to a grand dinner in Montepulciano.

Tuscany needs no effects. At Follonico, fresh bread, the farm’s honey and olive oil, and Fabio’s dinner are enough. When we want town and ceremony, we head for Montepulciano — Porta di Bacco or L’Altro Cantuccio — and let the season decide the rest.

05 · Umbria

A table in the tower, truffles and an evening in no hurry.

At Moravola, the kitchen is not separate from the stay. Morning begins on the East Terrace, dinner follows the season and nearby produce, and a glass of wine belongs to the last light over the valley. When we want to join the world again, we descend to Montone — a little town capable of feeling both intimate and festive.

06 · Chřiby & South Moravia

An open kitchen, fire and wine that can wait for sunset.

At Zikmundov, food is not a service detached from the house. It belongs to the shared table, conversation with the hosts and an evening that naturally moves towards the fire or wine lounge. Beyond the door, South Moravia adds vineyards and more good reasons not to hurry.

07 · Puglia

Pasticciotto in the morning. Fish at night. Olive oil and the sea between them.

Puglian cooking grows from simple things, yet it is never simplistic. We remember Palazzo Daniele through long breakfasts and dinner in the open kitchen, and Masseria Moroseta as a place where its own olive oil and garden are never decoration. The rest belongs to orecchiette, vegetables, fish and whatever the season has brought.

08 · Piedmont

Tajarin, hazelnuts and wine that speaks differently from every hill.

We are not yet closing Piedmont into a list of exact hotels or restaurants. First we want to capture its flavour: fine tajarin, vitello tonnato, seasonal truffles, cheese, hazelnuts and wines from villages whose names read like a map.
